Now, on to your questions. I've played through the castle sequence where you meet Saladin, Alhazred and see the mysterious figure with the twinkling eye (*wink!*), and it ran perfectly. In fact it was amazing to watch. I'm used to the text version.
About King's Quest V, I had the same problem. As a matter of fact, the game is famous for crashing at that particular point in the game. It got so bad that Sierra had to provide a saved game download to get past it. Tsk tsk. I can't find that saved game on-line, incidentally, though I haven't searched very hard. The good news is that Kings' Quest VI is a much more reliable game, and 99.9% you're going to be fine going all the way through the game. I think that applies with either the text or speech version. Note that with the speech version, you can change to text by toggling an option under the 'Game Paused' menu, which may be relevant if you run into trouble during the course of the game. However, I doubt you will.
About saved games - I don't believe that saved games made in the text-only version of the game are compatible with those made in the version that supports speech. I may be wrong about this however. By default, saved games for Sierra games are saved in the directory in which the game is found. For example, for me, King's Quest VI saved games would be saved (by default) under c:\programfiles\sierra\kingsquestVI.
Note however that when using DosBOX, directory names are truncated to six characters, plus a "~" and number afterwards. i.e. c:\progra~1\sierra\kingsq~1 (the 1 associated with kingq~ may be a different number if you have other King's Quest game saved in that directory). Long story short, you can find saved games in the game directory, and of the format kq6sg.00X, where X is some number.
Bonus Hint: When saving your game though, you can actually click on option to 'change saved game directory' or some such thing. Then you can enter the name of another directory, and save/restore your games from there. For example, for each Sierra game I have, I create two directories in the game directory called simply "Saves" and "Saves2". And when I play that game, I save in "Saves" until it's full, then switch to "Saves2". You can have as many directories as you want, and therefore as many saved games as you want. I find that this way, my saved game files are always in a predictable place, all bunched up together perfectly.
Whew! That was long. I hope that all makes sense. Happy gaming!

1. Unzip all 4 files into the same folder to get 4 .rar files
2. Unrar all 4 files into the same folder to get 1 .exe file
3. Extract the .exe file to get an .iso file
4. Extract the .iso file (with winrar) to get a directory which is the same as the KQ6 CD
5. Use Dosbox to run sierra.exe ( I found 8000 cycles to be a nice speed)
You will encounter one other problem, the intro movie won't play properly in the game. What you do is run the file toon.avi to watch the movie but when you run the game just skip through the intro.

My question though is about the actual download for KQ6. I'm looking for the cd version, but I can't seem to find either version on the site. Are you guys not having KQ6 any more? If so, too bad! It was a great game.

Hey Hesam,
Yeah, with the release of the King's Quest Collection we are holding back on putting these games back onto our site. King's Quest 6 is a great game, especially the CD version, and I'm glad that some form of product is still out there, where it is still possible to get it.
Maybe someday in the future this will change, especially with all the change that has been going on with VUGames, but for now there's not too much we can do!
